I have been degreasing a 302 that is in a car I dragged home in January. Let me know what you think of the numbers as maybe or maybe not being original to the car.Car is a 02D car 678 block with casting A88 ,carb is a holley 4053 dated 705 ,alt. 1100814 dated 8B12 ,it does have correct crank but rusty,dist.1111266 dated7G20 heads are 3917291 dated L 12 7. Oh ya engine is tighter than any motor I have tried to unc  Thanksease

Looks like I started an argument going. I said the car was rare and might have been a one of a kind. It was built for drag racing since I had a strong running Chevelle before that and wanted to stay with Chevy.. The car was a 67 not a 68. The exhaust fit in the trunk because the rear seat seat folded down (before it was removed for racing). The exhaust was in about ten pieces. The front header pipes, two straight back chambered sections, two over the axle pipes, two chamber pipes across the rear and two tailpipes. It also had the multi leaf springs on the rear. How many have you seen with the cross ram, factory headers and heater delete? It was custom built for racing only.

Sounds like a very rare "one of none" to me.

I'll be at the Atlantis with a yellow 69 Camaro....

Don't get in a street race with that yellow '69 unless you are driving a Bugatti Veyron or equivalent.

Didn't your car have one of these Just Dash jobs in it?  I'm sure it did and I flagged it when I was doing the on-site inspection.........corrrect? 

'68 GM dash pads are out there, you just have to call everyone in the biz, you'll find one.  Try Bob Harris at Camaro Specialties.  716-652-7086.

Jerry, yes my '68 does have a Just Dashes resto job and it is gorgeous, but it did not pass muster when you first looked at the car last May.  I have been looking for one since then.  I think I called Camaro Specialties last summer, but will try again.  Thanks for the tip and hope to see you in June at the Nationals. 

At least original '69 dashpads can still be found once in a while, as well as '67s.  The scarce ones are '68; if anybody has an NOS black '68 dashpad they would part with, please contact me <ttimberlake@servicetitleco.com>.

And that is a bargain compared to what you will have to pay for the drip-rail moldings.  I have been looking for a left side for 15 months and willing to pay asking price, but have not turned up a single one.  I do have an extra passenger side, if you are interested.

Los Lobos were at the right venue.  They are a West Coast group from Richie Valens neck of the woods and they do mostly 50's rock and roll.  They did all the music for the movie La Bamba.  Los Lonely Boys, on the other hand, is a rock group and, as Jerry said, they probably did not belong at The Surf.

Our tap water is also very hard.  I use distilled water and anitfreeze.

I believe Jerry is in Las Vegas this weekend.  It is probably too hot there for a new D/Stock National Record, but we will keep our fingers crossed.

Is there any play between the universal joint and the companion flange on the differential?  If it is not a snug fit, the u-joint will move around in the companion flange at certain rpms and cause a driveshaft vibration.

Perhaps the seller meant "paint code delete" instead of "paint delete".

Check out www.hardingsteel.com.  I have one in my garage, which has a ceiling height exactly the same as yours.  These lifts are purely for storage; ( you cannot access the bottom of the upper car for service).  I have first generation Camaros and Corvettes and the lifts provide adequate clearance for both.  Harding delivers the lift to you, installs it and adjusts it to your cars and your ceiling height.  They are not cheap, but are very sturdy.  

Must be April 1.  Thank goodness there are no first gens in that group.

I have a set of Larry's reproduction '68 Kustom headers on my '69 Z equipped with "140" cam, crossram and K-66 ignition.  Mating them with my Gardner exhaust system was a snap.  Never having seen a set of original Kustom headers as supplied by the General, I am only speculating, but I bet that these repops are better quality than the originals!
