Restoring a March 1968 327 distributor and would like to know if the original advance pod had these markings on them.
Please look at the pictures it seems like the white zig zag marking is original and maybe someone added the arrows with R and A for advance/retard. What have other people seen on the pod?

Restoring a 1968 327 and it looks like the oil filter bypass housing was put on after the engine was painted. Did the assembly plant have some attachment to send oil into the engine for start up.
The reason I think it was put on afterwards is that the two 5/16 unc bolts which holds the aluminum filter housing is attached with Ajax N UNC bolts which are made in Australia...this engine is a 7k mile never been apart in a 1968 GM Holden. It looks like Australia put this housing on here.
What do people think about how engines were primed for this not to be on.

I'm about to assemble a 1968 327 for a restoration. Which manufacturer makes a full gasket set that looks correct when the engine is fully assembled?
Or should I only look for NOS gaskets.

Thanks for the information, even though mine is an extremely low mileage original never been apart engine, it was fitted with air conditioning early in it's life and they installed a double belt pulley and changed the bolts.

Anyone else have any input?

I'm about to commence the reassembly of an April 1968 327 with a single belt lower pulley and need to find the three correct bolts/ washers which hold the pulley to the harmonic balancer.
Has anyone got pictures of head markings for what I need.

No problem Joe...a very original engine still has it's original distributor cap and rotor...fan belt... heater hoses etc...a wealth of information.

I'm restoring an April 1968 327 for an Australian Holden.
Engine was built at Tonawanda and this is the first disassembly of the low mileage engine.
Please look at the crayon markings and help me work out what they could be.
It's obviously not H5 like the suffix. Has anyone come across anything similar to this?
