After a week of research and quotes I am leaning towards aluminized. I'm not satisfied with what I have found with stainless exhausts. Gardner of course is well respected. The other kit I have found is made by Stan's Restorations and available from Heartbeat City or direct from the manufacture. It is apparently a show quality system too. Stan's is significantly less. ~$1400 at Heartbeat vs $2000 at Gardner. Buying stand direct should yield a slightly cheaper price.

My car has an august build date so I think I'll do the chrome pipes without resonators.

I am looking for recommendations on an exhaust system for a 1969 Camaro SS350. I want a stainless exhaust system but want it to have an original appearance and will be going with chrome tail pipes.

I have a z28 with a Gardner system and like their stuff, but would like stainless since I will be driving this car more and think it will show better over time.

I have a 1969 Camaro base coupe with a 307. Manufactured in August 1968. The car had a space saver spare tire. From what I have read 69 Camaros had the tire pressure decal in the door jam. My car still had the original paint on the glove box door and some residue in one of the circular pockets where the sticker would have been placed, had the car been made in 1968. Does anyone know of 69 Camaros getting the circular decal inside the glove box? Would space saver provide two decals?

I'm expecting my Camaro to have had the F70-14 hub cap rims.

I have a 1969 Camaro with dark blue interior. I've found the right paint code for metal parts. I am also familiar with the gloss percent in various places.

Can someone tell me how the dash pad should be painted? The metal parts have a slight bit of metallic flake but I imagine this shouldn't be the case for plastic stuff like a dash pad, kick panels, or console.

Originality / 1969 Coupe Space Saver Tire Hook Location

Hello,  Can someone show pictures or confirm the location of the trunk space saver spare tire bracket which gets welded to the trunk floor?  I am interested in a 69 coupe, NOT convertible.

I am familiar with the dimples in the trunk floor and how they were used as reference points for those on the assembly line to weld the bracket in place.  I am not able to locate a picture of an original coupe with space saver to prove this, but the attached photo shows my best guess, based on the AIM manuals (Page 407 N65, Page 136 UPC 10).

The other photo is of an original bracket in a 69 coupe with full size/standard spare tire.

What does everyone recommend for windshield, drip rail, and rear glass moldings?

I have some originals but they may be beyond repair. A few of my set are kinked.

Is there anyone out there who restores moldings?

You mention the console mounted 8 track only being applicable for the AC cars, but is there also clearance issue between the dash mounted unit and a factory console gauge setup?

I found something which others might find interesting. As you've pointed out here 69 Camaros had a console mounted 8 track. But Heart Beat City just posted a SS396 12,000 mile survivor Camaro. It has a dash mounted 8 track. The paperwork from GM is shown and this looks like the dash 8 track was installed from the factory. Production date was around march 1969. Like console 8 tracks, this was stereo.

My car has holes under the dash around where a 8 track would mount.

Thanks for the picture of your harness. This has been really helpful.

I know almost all the first gen camaro connectors are packard 56 style. But there is a male terminal on one of my radio connectors that I can't identify. It plugs into a female packard 56 but doesn't have the cut across the middle. It secures into the connector with a tab. Here is a picture

Anyone know what these are called? I need to buy a few more.

I think there is some misunderstanding on what I'm saying... this car at least came with a center speaker, and TWO rear speakers.

I am curious if this could have been the setup... 8 track stereo with a mono radio. That's the only way you can get a front speaker and two in the rear. I think the kick panel speakers were take out before I got the car. See the attached wiring diagram for a factory configuration like this.

Thoughts?

David K, I didn't see any instructions under "camaro defog" on eBay. If you could post a link or the pictures I would really appreciate it!

I discovered my problem.... Years ago I soldered the crimp connection at the horn relay splice where the wires In  the harness split to run back to the gauge. Soldering this connection lowered the resistance enough to effect the gauge.  The lower the resistance of the connection the lower the voltage drop and effecting the sensitivity.

To fix the problem I added a length of wire between the in harness splice and the junction block.  The gauge now reads accurate.
