Not cad but zinc..
Obviously the silver is silver, but the dichromate finish is the yellow/green finish that is typical of most brake components such as boosters and master cylinder "lids". I think the dichromate was used on brake components because it is "stronger".
Cadmium is describes as a "soft silver" finish and silver zinc as blue by amk products. http://www.amkproducts.com/default.htm

Very few parts were cadmium-plated; most drawing specs offered the choice between cadmium and zinc plating, and zinc was FAR less costly. Few vendors chose the more expensive plating when they were competing for business based on piece cost. Even fewer were cadmium plated when cadmium was recognized as a carcinogen and cadmium was phased out completely in the 70's for that reason. About the only place you'll find real cadmium plating today is for aircraft applications.

The yellowish cast on some plated parts (like boosters and master cylinder caps) was from a dichromate wash dip after zinc plating.

Thanks Guys, the question originates from the plating chart in Jerry M's book. Specifically the alternator fan for Z28 silver cadium and alternator pulley silver cadium dichromate. I will assume (hate to do that) that silver zinc finish is acceptable for both pieces or?
Thanks

On Brake Boosters website - he has examples for various plating fininshes:  http://www.brakeboosters.com/services.htm

By the way, I've used him for quite a few pieces for my Z - I've been very satisfied by the quality.
