original wire connectors
« on: March 02, 2012, 02:07:00 AM »
Where can I find the correct wire terminals for my ignition coil for my Z28. I want to call them "horse shoe" shaped terminals but I'm not sure thats the proper name for them. Also my insulated wire going to the positive side of my ignition coil is very worn, where came I also find one of those?

Remove the wire and take it to a Radio Shack... you should be able to find duplicate spade lugs, and the same color/gauge wire to make a new one... :)

Find one in an original GM harness that is in good shape and strip the harness back as far as possible and clip the wire. I have replaced complete wires back to the box doing this and then rewrapped the harness to look as good as new. But that was before anyone cared about tags and labels, of course those can be purchased now days, back then I just wanted clean harnesses.

Do you have the old ones?  If so, you could reuse them...  I have seen some Corvette extension(?) wires that have a plug on one end and that style terminal on the other (one wire about a foot long).  But they were something like $15/ea.  Seems like the best option would be mopar346's.  I'm lucky to have a wrecker near by that has muscle cars.

Now I know why they sell those little packs in the auto stores for $5.

Check with Lectric Limited...  http://www.lectriclimited.com/mainpage.htm

I don't know if they sell the terminals loose, but they have them because they make wiring harnesses.

I have some of those - - send your address.
Remember - save your originals they are pretty easy to spread and re-crimp.
