I was reading the 1967-1969 Camaro Exterior Paint Color Codes, under footnotes #5 is says (1968: Black stripe with Black vinyl/convertible top) would this be true with sequoia green/black top? Thanks, Les.      http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#ExteriorColors:T:ExteriorPaints.  I see now, thats for Matador Red.never mind. ::)

I was under the impression that the stripe color listed was "recommended" by Chevrolet and that you could order black or white with any color body.  Can someone confirm this?  I'm in a similar situation.  I have a '68 that's rallye green and I can't decide whether to put black or white stripes on it.  I think they both would look good.

You could not order stripe colors, you got the stripe color that GM determined went with the cars color.  The only possibly modification to the standard color came about if you ordered certain color vinyl tops.  For example a hugger orange Z28 would normally have had white stripes, unless you ordered a black vinyl top and then you got black stripes.  The only choice you had with stripes was to delete them, in wich case your trim tag would have dashes on it inplace of a paint color to indicate it was a special paint instruction car.

My garnet red Z-28 has a - - paint code and white stripes. I am told it was special order with white instead of black stripes. I have no build sheet to confirm.                     Pat

I also have seen a article somewhere on an  69 Z which was burgundy with red stripes from the factory? Article showed pic's of original car from 69 with original paint as I remember. How'd that happen? I wasn't too crazy about the combination, it looked kinda strange.

Here is the engine shot.. not too clear.
Now for the heartbreaker... this car was raced in regional SCCA Trans Am events from 68-71 then titled and driven sparingly on the street... Cowl Plenum M22 and it sold for $18,000 in 2004.
I do not know who bough the car but I have the contact info for the seller.

Holy Crap, firstgenaddict, what color is the firewall??????  Is that just a flash back on the firewall or was it body color???  It must of been black because i'm sure you would have mentioned it in my thread.  Do you happen to know what plant the car came from....I'm betting it's a Norwood car....

Yeah, and the price....Holy f*&^%$#g Crap....
