Convertible Top Restoration
« on: February 06, 2012, 05:50:11 PM »
I am in the process of removing my convertible top pump motor, cylinders and lines, as car will be heading to the body shop next month for a date with the rotisserie. The top worked fine before and I see no evidence of any leakage, but it was slowing down a bit when it was put up, but I have never checked the fluid and doubt it has ever been serviced.

My question is should I clean up the exterior of the parts myself and reinstall, or spend the extra money and have the pump sent out for a rebuild and replace the cylinders.

Your opinion is greatly appreicated

The last time my top did that I found the fluid was a tiny bit low in the pump. I drained it and refilled it with automatic tranny fluid and it worked perfect.
