68' A Arm & Frame Dust Shields
« on: July 21, 2011, 04:04:46 AM »
I'm installing new a arm dust shields (from Montco manufact.).  Looking for any suggestions or tricks to make installing the staples easier.  The replacement shields don't have holes for staples prepunched.

Use the staple holes in your inner fenders as the template to make the holes in the shields, and make your own staples from 16-ga. steel wire (hardware store blister-pack item); many of the vendors supply stainless steel staples, and the factory never used stainless staples.

Sorry if I'm derailing this topic, but does anyone have a tip for a correct looking roll-over on the staples ends?  Is a "camel-hump" appearance correct?  I was thinking about using a pair of needle nose and rolling over, then push it down a little more into the rubber.
