1969 Deck Lid Emblem

I noticed some 1969 have an emblem on the deck lid, while some do not. I currently do not and am also seeing it in assembly manual yet it does not specify if it was standard. I have the rear spoiler. Saw a few strings where this was mentioned, yet could not find my answer.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the emblem was not used if a spoiler was installed.

If the spoiler was factory installed, the trunk lid emblem was repositioned forward 3.27 inches from the standard location. If it was installed by the dealer, they were supposed to reposition it like the factory but most didn't bother.

Off topic but can you please help me out here...If a rear spoiler was installed by the dealer, did they also install the stiffer torsion rod?

Not usually. Dealers just moved the torsion rod down to the next slot.

The rear spoiler is the early built 69 version (roughly 59" X 4 3/4") and did not come with the thicker torsion rod. The spoiler is original to the car...it was the same color as the car before it was restored (the first and only time). Dealer installed certainly puts me a little more at ease.

I did not have issues with the trunk opening and closing. My problem was with the slightest gust of wind. It took all of about 1min to change the setting. Great advise on the link you provided...deep socket w/extention rod. I used a 6"...

All factory-installed spoiler cars had the rear emblem (re-positioned forward) and a thicker torsion rod. Photo below of my untouched original 02D '69 emblem.

I think there was a thread somewhere that had a template or measurements for the rear emblem. If anyone know's where it is can you please post the link. Or...post a new one.

And...is the header and deck emblem the same?

On a factory spoiler car, the bottom straight edge of the emblem is 1-1/4" forward of the front edge of the spoiler, and the right edge of the "O" in Camaro is 4" from the edge of the lid.

Thanks Mark, this is the template I remember seeing. Problem is I am a General Contractor and only familiar with the standard measuring system. Is there something out there I can use for decimals?

I think I'll stick to John's measurements. Simple and clear-cut...
