Gas Tank Restoration 69 Z28
« on: May 17, 2011, 08:35:55 PM »
Need to restore our original date coded ( right where they said it would be) stamped: 2, upside down 5 69 tank. It was lined with some type of  liquid liner prior to my purchase of the vehicle and the liner started  to breakdown due to 111 race /91 octane gas combo being used. Repro tank was installed.
Looking for a pro to do the work!  Greater LA, Orange County, San Diego general So Cal area. Not sure if J. Mcneish does this type of service so have not contacted him yet. Need to get an estimate to see if the tank is actually still useable!
Thanks to all for all the help!

You can check out these guys:
http://www.retinners.com/

I'm not sure if the re-tinning they perform will have the same look as the original galvanizing or ni-terne, but it is worth looking into.

Original tanks were galvanized - hard to replicate.
Not sure it's worth restoring. The repros are very accurate and nice.
