Just to be clear, the black Z and the one that lost a wheel are not the same car.

Ken Deckman's Z-28 at the '67 Riverside Trans-Am. Ken's car was bought new out of Alan Green Chevrolet in the Seattle area.
He had raced Corvettes prior to this. It was sold by Ken to Bob Morton is the 1990's and Bob restored and vintage raced it.

thats a nice car the #9 car. The ad for the black car doesnt state a price but im sure Jon I cant afford it LOL. Not now with Riches car allmost done my funds are very low LOL.

I remember Ken racing this car still in the eighties at Seattle and Westwood.  Ken was well into his "senior" years then.  It had some flared fenders at that time. Ken raced this car up and down the west coast and into the midwest.  I believe his engine builder was Everett Hatch, a well known NW engine builder for both race cars and planes.

When it came up for sale it was offered complete for about $10,000 and I was just starting to figure out it might have some "vintage racing" potential, but I was too slow off the mark.

You can find it now every year at the annual SOVREN Pacific North West Historics being raced by Bob Morton.  His son Bob jr. also has a 69 camaro T/A clone race car.

Jon I see most of the scca cars have 4 point roll bars like mine.I thought that they needed a full cage for 67?here is a pic of the roll bar in my car,would it pass for a sedan?I sure would like to know where mine was raced.Its really bugging me man LOL Supposedly the guy who raced my car his name is Scott Moorehouse and it was raced around here somewhere.

I happened to post some pics from the earlier years of Trans-Am where you still saw some cars with 4-point roll bars. In 1970 it became mandatory for actual Trans-Am cars to have full roll cages in them, although A-Sedan cars running in regional and national events could still make do with 4-point roll bars for a few more years beyond that. I don't see anybody named Moorehouse in Trans-Am so if it did any road racing, it would have been as an A-Sedan car.

On another note, I found out the "black car" at Marlboro (above) was actually E-E code Deepwater Blue. Sure looks black in the photo and in the video I have seen from the race.

did the stock rims hold up under raceing conditions? Looks neat with them on the front.

Some guys used steel wheels if they were on a budget and I have seen guys use them at places like
Daytona where there are high g-forces on the high banking. I guess the steel wheel would be a more
sturdy piece and you might want strength over lightness under that kind of circumstance. Whether the
wheels on the front of the Z above had extra welding on them, I don't know but I would think some
racers would have done that. The John Putnam '68 Camaro below ran all of it's races on steel rally
wheels regardless of the track, probably due to budget more than anything else.

Even the Bud Moore Cougars ran steel wheels for their first couple of races, including these
fancy styled steel wheels at the '67 Sebring Trans-Am.

Lance Pruyn and Peter Pulver's Marina Blue '67 Z was the first ponycar to use
Minilite wheels in Trans-Am. This was taken in August '67 at Bryar, NH. This
car still survives and occasionally races in Historic Trans-Am.

The Marina Blue Z-28 of Bill Boye at the '68 Daytona 24-hour. Billy Yuma was Bill's co-driver. This car was one
of two Z-28 "Stormers" built at Yenko Chevrolet specifically for road racing. Car sold new through Yenko for $5900.
