What dash panel came in a 1968 Camaro that has a standard interior with a factory console.
Was it black or walnut?

Thank you I am finding a few different answers on here.  Mine does have a walnut center but it also had a walnut ashtray.  Which was only supposed to come with a deluxe int.  So I was curious if that also was true to a  Camaro that had a factory console.

So what was the original color of the radio plate with a walnut center and a standard int?

Early 68's had black ashtray, from about feb 68 onwards they changed to walnut.
Afaik, all radio faceplates were the same, satin black with chrome edge.
This thread covers the ashtray in depth http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=1534.0

btw, your poll options are the same

Mine - 68 ss - vertical

x2.  But my ash tray is horizontal.  Not that I'm supposed to have a walnut grained one...

My 02C '68 Z/28 with 730 interior has a woodgrain center panel and ashtray.  The woodgrain is vertical on both.

Gentlemen, I haven't been around lately, but Kurt asked me to comment so here's the breakdown:

Standard interior (without console) - black (textured) dash panel and black (textured) ash tray
Standard interior (with console) - woodgrain dash panel and black (smooth) or woodgrain ashtray (see Transition notes below)
Z23 or Z87 interior (without console) - woodgrain dash panel and black (smooth) or woodgrain ash tray (see Transition notes below)
Z23 or Z87 interior (with console) - woodgrain dash panel and black (smooth) or woodgrain ash tray (see Transition notes below)

Note that all 1968 woodgrain dash panels are verticle pattern. The horizontal pattern is 1967 Firebird.

Transition:

                 Black          Woodgrain      Notes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thru 01B    LOS/NOR    n/a                 early black only
01C-02B     LOS/NOR    LOS/NOR         early transition
02C-03B     NOR           LOS/NOR         late transition
03C-on       n/a            LOS/NOR         late woodgrain only
