Any ideas what are the best motels for close proximity to the fairgrounds at Carlisle. Never been before but thinking of going to Nationals at end of June

You may want to book quickly as rooms are getting hard to find.

Be prepared to pay REALLY big $$$$ for any rooms during Carlisle events. They all have "special event" pricing those weeks.

When we were there 3 years ago the rooms were resonable ($100 per night or so)

I would recommend staying up off of Exit 61, Wertzville Road off of I-81.  This is about 15 miles north of the fairgrounds, but it's a nice easy drive down Rt 944W to Rt 34S right to the fairgrounds, no traffic.  There are two hotels off of this exit that have just been built in the last year.  One is a Microtel, the other I can't remember the name of it.

Booked at the Microtel that you said was only 15 minutes away. Thanks for the help.

Sounds good!

There is a great pizza joint just across I81 from the Microtel.  It's called Als of Hampden ... pizza and beer, what could be better after a day at Carlisle!
