what exactly is a newbie and how is this demeaning name taken off my posts?

At 50 posts, you move up.  A newbie is exactly that, someone new to the forum.

If you're a member of the old version of the forum, you haven't been paying much attention to the news flashes above and the sticky post in this very section Wink  Otherwise, if you're truly new here, welcome, and don't worry about the term, just participate and enjoy yourself.

Newbie isn't a demeaning term.  It just means you are new.
