Steering column problem

After winters restoration having lots of job done on the car I realized now from driving the car that the steering is very unpleasent. It feels like it binds in at least 2-3 positions when turning the steering wheel. I checked on the problem by release the two bolts connecting the rag-joint and the it felt much better. I tried to tighten the bolts again in a slighter different position but the problem occurs again.

It can be said that I replaced my body bushings this winter with new ones in polyurethane which may caused this problem. But, if I remember well I felt this (not so much) also earlier. I read that the steering column can be re-aligned to solve the problem. How is this done??

The car is a 1967 camaro conv. with power steering.

Loosen all the column and toe plate attachments and follow the mandatory assembly sequence shown in detail in the Assembly Manual in UPC 9, sheet A6 to re-align the column without stresses.
