hood alignment

Hi Guys
I am finishing a 3 yr. (amateur)  restoration on my wife's 67RSSS 396.
I have the rear door gaps set about the thickness of a paint stick.
Looks nice. The door to fender gaps slightly larger but close.
The hood to fender gaps look about the same on each sides, about a paint stick.
The front of the hood to the header panel is off about 1/4 in. side to side.
How's the best way to correct this issue?

It sounds like you need to "square it up."
You will have to loosen all of the bolts except the two on the bottom of each fender, and push on the (front side) of the fender towards the side that has the smaller gap. For a quarter inch difference, you need to move it 1/8 inch.
You can use a tape measure and measure cross ways in both directions and it needs to be equal.

Thanks for your quick reply. I guess I will need to loosen the radiator support bolts also?

Try just loosening the (2) bolts on each side where the fender attaches to the core support on top first.
You should get enough movement there.

I loosened all the bolts but couldn't get the movement needed.
I loosened the radiator support bolts. I made a puller out of all thread rod and attached it between
the rad. support and frame horn. It pulled the hood alignment over near perfect.
Gap between front of hood and header looks good now!
