New guy needs help on L78
« on: January 25, 2010, 07:00:29 PM »
I have a 69 L78. The engine pad nubers are : To104JL..(I THINK ITS A ONE) I was told the vin# would be on the oil flange, which it is and matches all doc's i have for the car. Is the reason because the moved it because of the change in the alt. location? Also, what do these numbers tell me?

Thanks,
Vince

Yes, ...  http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#partialVINs

Also, what do these numbers tell me?

T0104JL =  For a 1969 model, this is interpreted as a Camaro 396cid/375hp engine with automatic transmission (TH400) assembled on January 4th (1969) at the Tonawanda, NY engine assembly plant.

More info on the subject here...  http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#PadStamps

Paul,

Thanks for your help. Was a bit worried that the vin#  was not there.

If you can send me a pic of the engine pad, I'll take a look at it.

Kurt,

Thanks, says the pic is to big. I was never worried the stamp was a fake. a alot of folks have looked at it and all say its good. I just never got around to doing any research on the car until i was going to sell it.
