Just acquired a 1967 RS SS
« on: July 24, 2009, 03:23:50 PM »
As the title states I have just taken ownership of what is said to be a 1967 RS SS. It was inherited from my brother who had it fully restored. It's extremely clean car. I will  try to post pictures soon. I'm new to this forum and to this platform so I was hoping you guys could lend me a hand and decode the VIN for me.  ;)

The VIN is 124377N165609

Unfortunately I don't have any of the paper work or anything on the engine or car itself, so I don't know what it orginally was or had or currently has on it. Again, I will try to post pictures up as soon as I can.

Thanks In Advance,
CL8ON

You should start here: http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml
from your vin: 124377N165609
 1=Chevrolet
 2=Camaro
 4=V8
37=coupe
 7=1967
 N=Norwood Ohio Assembly
165609=vin sequence number

You will get more info from the trim tag than the vin.

The trim tag is on the firewall near the mastercylinder.  Post that information or a picture along with the information on the stamp pad of the engine block on the passenger side in front of the cylinder head.

Oh okay, thanks guys. I'm at work and happened to have the VIN from my insurance. I will get the other information when I get home this evening.

Thanks again!

Good looking '67. Could use a nose stripe, but I'm biased! ;)

Nose stripe only came on the SS model, not the RS SS correct? I'm still trying to learn all of this.  ???

I'm pretty sure the D91 stripe was available on SS 350's with or without the RS package.  http://www.camaros.org/diffs67.shtml (See paint/stripe)
If I'm wrong someone will pipe in.

Originally it was SS only (and that includes RS/SS) but later in the year it was available as an option on anything.
