Dual Exhausted?
« on: March 30, 2009, 09:09:57 PM »
Hey guys,

So in a previous thread, you answered my question about the welded reinforcement plate welded to the side of the drivers side rear frame rail on 69's, by pointing me to:
http://www.camaros.org/diffs69.shtml

Without that reinforcement plate, a 69 Camaro could definitely NOT be an RS, SS, or Z28.

Does the same thing go for the 67 and 68 Camaros?  If they didn't have Riv-nuts in the rear frame rail...they are definitely NOT an RS, SS, or Z28?

Thanks,
Tony Huntimer

For 69's you're correct about the SS & Z28 but the reinforcement plate had nothing to do with an RS.

Sorry my bad.  I knew that the RS did not have anything to do with a high-performance engine...which required the dual exhaust...like the SS and Z28.  I can't go back and edit my post to omit my oversight.  :)

Thanks,

You can apparently edit it up to the point that someone replies; after that, it's DONE...   *G*

But don't forget, just because the car has the reinforcement plate does not mean it is an SS or Z28.  The reinforcement plate was used on 69 coupes only on any car factory equipped with dual exhaust, and any V8 car could be ordered with RPO N10 dual exhaust.  The plate is just a peice of the puzzle.

Maybe it is a piece of the puzzle.

The plate is is very easy to remove and install on another car. It is also reproduced.
