After some very frustrating hours using the yellow crayon and red machinist's dykem I have come up with "perhaps" one number.  I am not sure what else to do.  Any other suggestions or help of any kind would certainly be appreciated.  Attached is the best picture I could take.  Thanks in advance.  Rich

I see that ur block is cast Dec 68 and motor build is Dec 22.  I believe that they were still stamping the cars vin on th efront pad.  Maybe could be they just did not stamp the pad.  Jerry or John or Kurt would know best.

I do not think the block had been decked. It has been a bracket  motor for at least the last 19 years. We took the engine apart at .030 and bored it to .060 and made it a 355 in 91. The deck is 9.029 pass. and 9.035 driver. I am in no way an expert so anyones help would be appreciated.  Thanks Rich

The pad photo shows no evidence of having been decked, and both deck height measurements are above the production nominal of 9.025".
