Camaro and Nova subframes. Are they the same?
« on: February 16, 2009, 03:01:19 AM »
I have a 69 Camaro with drum brakes and a subframe from a Nova(68-74) with disc brakes. Side by side the only difference I can see are the motor mount stands. Are these a direct swap or would I be better off buying a disc brake conversion for my 69? Any advice would
great.

Thanks

I've used Nova discs with no problems before......  Best of luck!

You don't need to swap the subframe. Read more here: http://www.pozziracing.com/brakes.htm#Converting_Drums_to_Discs

The subframes differ for each year of first gen Camaro due to the location of the lower CA bumper.  Believe Nova's followed the same way.  See this http://www.camaros.org/suspen.shtml#aarms

In no way do you need to swap frame for a drum to disc conversion as stated!  Just swap the spindles!!!
