panel stamping numbers
« on: January 25, 2009, 11:46:37 AM »
I have the old sheet metal that I replaced when I repainted my car. Is there any way to decode the date stamps on the front fenders and where are the codes? I would like to throw this stuff away especialy if they are not original to the car.

-Mark.

The Chevrolet "run number" stamping on the fender is on the vertical flange of the outer skin panel, just above where the fender bolts to the top of the radiator support; the number represents the week of the calendar year.

Should be on the R.H. side near the hood hinge on the outerside of the flange.

Whoops, it should read Left hand side. Or drivers side

Hi All,
I have a 05C LA car with the original 14 stamped hood and a better shape 17 hood. the car is at the body shop now. Is the 17 hood too close to the 23rd week that the car was assembled?  (red original primer, spoiler holes in the trunk, no pen marks behind the seat, no build sheet tucked anywhere inside the interior, I'll check the date of the jacking instructions later if any body still needs to know)

Nope - the "17" hood works fine with that car.

Hi all,
To follow up on my post from yesterday: 05C LA RS/SS BB car... 1967 dated bumper jack instructions (notice the early version has less safety instructions?) also a square shaft jack, extra holes in the base, "CAMARO 1968" in an single line on the bumper stop

You can upload directly from your hard drive (using the "Additional Options" item), but images must be around 130K or smaller - if they're larger, re-size them. Or you can host them on a photo site (Photobucket, Village Photos, etc.) and link to them in your post.

I just made the 'Additional Options' feature not collapsible. Which means it will show all the time now when replying. That should help people find it easier. :)
