327/275 Vibration Damper
« on: March 26, 2008, 12:55:33 PM »
Can anyone give me, or point me to where I can find some info about what damper the 327/275 L30 engine had on it? Part #, casting #, diameter, measurements, etc...??

I'm going to try to make my crate engine look like this set up, and I can't seem to find any info on what damper to use. I've searched here, Team Camaro, the web, my dealer, and can't get an answer. GM offers 12551537 damper which is the "clearance problem" damper for their crate engines. It's 6 3/4" diameter, about 2 3/8" "deep", of which about 1 1/8" is the snout. Has anyone used this damper with all the short pump L30 stuff? I'm scared it's going to mess up my pulley alignment.

Thanks in advance for any help, Brian

Brian,
I have both a '67 and a '68 with their original motors (327/275hp, I'm guessing this information is out there, ...but I'll see if there are any#'s I can dig up, ...and take measurements if it will help.
it may take me a few days to get back with info, ...and since I still owe Kurt some seatbelt details  ;), ...now I have more than one reason to pull one of them out of the garage...  :)
