Quadrajet Question
« on: December 05, 2007, 02:22:15 PM »
What would be the correct quadrajet part number/date for a 69 Camaro 396/325 auto with Nov. 30 1968 build date? Would it be a 7029200 dated 3158-3318 ish? l know some would say its a 7029204 but l am more interested in the date. Thanks Earl

Earl,
You can put a 200 on it, but it would be wrong. I've *never* seen a L35/4 with a 200, all have 204's.

No concrete data to help you date-wise, but I'd say up to a month before is easily fine. Could be more, but I don't have data to back it up...

Kurt, every 69 with that combo l've seen has had the 9200 the only ones l've seen with the 9204 were all 350 hp versions.

So? That's wrong info and it's the wrong carb.
Not the only mistake on that site....

I found a good reference document in addition to the database which also confirms 7029204 carb. It is part of the restoration package that GM sends out for free. It is in the section labeled "AMA Specification - Passenger Car" on page 70 and is dated 10-15-1968. It shows an automatic 395 325HP to have a 7029204. If anyone does not have this information there are instruction on the website detailing how to get your own copy.

I'm pulling this info from the CRG database. It's real data from real cars.
