Steering coupler
« on: November 15, 2007, 02:27:39 PM »
I recieved a new steering coupler yesterday and I am going to install it today. My question is do the 2 plastic bushings that come on the line up pins stay on when I install the coupler to the steering shaft? They look like they will take up some play but I have never installed one before to know if I keep them on for install.  Thanks Paul

Those plastic alignment spacers were part of the coupler assembly as received, and stayed in place until after the mandatory assembly sequence (outlined in UPC 9 of the Assembly Manual) for the steering column was completed; when the assembly sequence was completed, a hook was used to remove the spacers and they went in the trash.

Thanks John I have never seen that picture before. I put the coupler in and the Z drives better. The old rag joint was totally junk.
