1968 Z28 rim opinons
« on: November 08, 2007, 07:37:01 PM »
I have a all correct 1968 Z28 and was wondering what guys would think of painted body colour wheels on it. I have the original DF rallies with Wide-Tread GTs on the car now but love the look of body colour painted wheels with poverty hub caps. Thoughts please.

It's your car and you can do whatever you like with it, but just be prepared for the folks who will tell you, "You know, Z/28's came with argent silver wheels, bright caps and trim rings, not body color wheels and dog-dish caps".  :)

on another note, why dont you buy another set of rims and tires and keep the DF wheels stock as they should be so if you decide to go to a show you will have the correct rims and trim rings with the center caps. If you own a Z/28 you should be able to afford another set of wheels and tires ::)

I like the body color wheels/dog dish caps on the 69s, but not so much on the 68s.
I have a set of NOS dog dish caps that I am going to run on my original steel wheels (painted argent silver) along with trim rings.  IMO, it looks great and is a change from the thousands of rally wheels out there.  I tried the caps & rings with body color painted wheels, but it just looked a little goofy to me.

I have the original wheels...trim rings and top hats.  I also have a set of Torque Thrust wheels and tires.  Like I have done with most all the cars I've had, I switch back and forth.  Nobody has ever said anything.  Wheels and tires have always been a way to change the look of your car since hot rods were invented.

Run what you like and have the correct setup for when you need it.

I think they make a modern repop of them
