Block stamping L89 Convertible
« on: September 03, 2007, 11:50:40 PM »
I currently own a 1969 Camaro SS/RS 396 convertible. It has been totally restored. While it has a date coded 396/375 with aluminum heads (L89) engine, the numbers are not matching to the car. The POP and window sticker as well as the dealers invoice state the car is an L89 convertible. Should I have the block restamped to match the car? I think the car is fairly rare as is. The engine is fairly rare as well. They just don't match. Any thoughts on this situation?

Absolutely not.

The pop, invoice and ws are plenty of docs for anyone. Re-stamped blocks almost never look correct and will set people to wondering what else was jerry-rigged to look right.

Any partial VIN info on the engine?
