Wheel Dating
« on: June 19, 2007, 07:03:42 PM »
Can I date a 14x7 YJ wheel from the following:

K19 near hole in center of wheel

5 on one side of valve stem hole

YJ on other side of valve stem hole

K = Kelsey Hayes; 1= Chevrolet

What does the 5 indicate?  Is 9 actual year of manufacture or just production year 69?

"9" in the K-1-9 means it was made in calendar year 1969, and the "5" is May.

Sometimes the valve stem hole is stamped over the date in the month.

Yes, now that I look closer at another wheel I have I see a 6 to the left of the valve stem, and a 7 underneath the valve stem on the right  if I move it to one side with my finger. To the right of the 7 is the YJ stamp.  Also, to the left of the 6 appears to be stamped K 1 9. The K 1 9 is very faint, almost unreadable.
