Not always but, sometimes......a little bit too high of an idle will cause this issue when turning off an engine. It doesn't take much of an adjustment to make a difference. As this is a very easy change to make, it may solve your problem.

Is it running on like dieseling, or running like normal?  If running normally, it could be your ignition switch.  Dieseling could be a timing issue.

I agree - if it running like normal, then the ignition switch is not shutting of the power when you turn it off.

Sounds like the ignition switch assy is worn out and not disconnecting the electrical circuit internally.

Have you changed anything on the car recently?  Ignition box?  Some times you need a diode in the regulator circuit to prevent it from back-feeding.  I have one.

It’s not dieseling if pulling the coil wire shuts it off. That phenomenon requires no spark from the ignition.
