well i have Z stripes on my car, its a 69 supposidly SS.
last documented paint was early 80's. orig. trunk lid had no striping under spoiler.
so what your saying is that an SS could have been ordered w/ Z/28 stripes?

No, a 69 SS would have a set of hockey stick stripes on the side.  Those were the only stripes you could get on an SS.  Rally stripes were only available on Z28's, Z10's and Z11's.

thanks for the info,i just thought that the car could have been ordered w/rally stripes.
it has every sign of being a SS,except that elusive X-code (12A car)

Does the partial vin on the 6 cyl match the cars vin?

- No Z stripes except on a Z28, or a Pace car (Z10, Z11)
- No SS stripes except on an SS
- No 6 cyl SS

There is a ton of knowledge on this site. Post photos of the vin, engine stamp, and cowl tag. Not all questions can be answered, but those photos will help with many of the questions that can be answered.

Hi Mark and Tom, regarding the Z stripes I thought if you ordered an SS with the cowl hood option 1969 that you could also order the Z stripes. If I am wrong I have been mistaken for over 30 years and I am not to old to learn something new. Am I reading your post correctly?

Nope, as Mark stated above...  "Rally stripes were only available on Z28's, Z10's and Z11's".

D90 striping was included with SS; optional on any Camaro that did not have other striping.

Dealers added stripes to cars. They also added spoilers and other add-ons.

I don't see how you could factory RPO order the stripe without the package it normally came with. It was not an option listed as available so rhetoricaly, how would you have done it? :)

There were 3 optional stripes for '69:

DX1-nose striping that extended onto the hood. Not included with any option.
D90-the "hockey stick" stripe that included the fenders & doors. Included on SS.
D96-fender pin striping. Included with Z21 except Z/28 & SS.

According to ordering info a car was limited to one striping treatment. However Z10s & Z11s had both Z/28 striping and D96 pin stripes. No Z/28 is known to have both. Z/28 striping was never listed as an option.

Chevrolet did build stripe delete SS and Z/28.

Where can I find more info on the DX1 option? What did it look like? Would it be listed anywhere? like on the cowl tag?
Thanks
