Alright, I am digging through my steering components.

One car "done" standard 69 base car w/drums, the other an 69 SS w/disc (restoration project).  Both with power steering.

The base car has a 3953227 long pitman on it, not sure what arms were there, but it has the short arm 3954875/876 now (w/Moog idler).  Steering is responsive, but has an oversteer deflection point.  This was/is the same setup I plan to use for the SS.

But I also have the standard power steering setup 39532119 short pitman with long arm 3954873/874 in a box.

Read up on a bunch of posts and William posted this informative specs:

#3. The standard [exc Camaro SS and Z/28] power steering ratio was 16.0:1-12.4:1 [gear] 15.5:1-12.8:1 [overall]. 2.16 turns L-L. Standard production power steering gear, 5.25” pitman arm, long steering arms.

#4. The standard Camaro SS and Z/28 power steering ratio was 16.0:1-12.4:1 [gear] 14.5:1-10.8:1 [overall]. 2.06 turns L-L. Standard production power steering gear, 5.75” pitman arm, short steering arms.

So the question is: Should I redo the base car back to stock components (39532119 short pitman with long arm 3954873/874) and will it change the handling enough to notice? Or stick with the SS version (3953227 long pitman short arm 3954875/876)?

Thanks!
