Need help w/1968 Camaro Trim Tag
« on: June 06, 2022, 03:24:43 AM »
Hello - My 1968 SS/RS Camaro TT states it was built 10E @Norwood with a J2 Color (Rallye Green/Black Vinyl Top).   I'm reading that Rallye Green was a mid year change over color but the last week of October/first week of Nov is not mid year.  The 10E and the VIN match up per the charts.  Did they produce Rallye Green @ 10E?

Can we see some pictures? The general understanding is things that weren’t available just weren’t put on a car unless you have documentation to back it up.

In 1980 I had one very similar to this but not in the greatest shape ( and I wrecked it).  Getting ready to retire and I wanted this exact car - found it.  I will be disappointed if you feel the TT is fake but the car puts a smile on my face.  Runs and drives great.  Don't hold anything back - I know you won't.   Heck - that would give me license to eventually make a resto-mod out if it.

Your car was on ebay back in 2009 and at that time it had the original trim tag (see below), which shows the car started life as a R2 code (Matador Red with a black vinyl top). Also note that the car wasn't originally a Super Sport or a Rally Sport as those were both added. The 396 that was included in the auction was an L35 with a partial VIN of 18N427572.

Thx All - I knew this crew would get me the answer (dreaded what was coming after researching build date vs J2).  The car is a beautiful clone.  The guy who purchased in 2010 and sold to me must have done a lot of research/work/detailing building this fakery!  Excellent job. I purchased this car to drive.   Runs strong, drives solid, steers straight and everything works.  Payed a little too much considering but hey - been to the grocery store?  Not in NOVA - I live in Ohio.

I asked my 2 Falls Church lifers about this dealer,  don’t remember it. Must have closed in the late 70s or early 80s. Still a sharp looking car.
