I have an OE 68 console, 11A NOR. I had to replace the lid, but there wasn't any flocking.

I never knew that - always assumed 68 and 69 were the same!

They were. P/N 3919069, and the underside of the console lid wasn't flocked. Only the inside of the console itself (the storage area). Some of the repop lids have the flocking but that's not the way they originally came from the factory.

Not true. All 69 lids are flocked. My SS396 still has its original lid - flocked.

A commonly damaged (replaced) part.  I thought the replacements were not flocked and had to be done in the field.  Been a long time but maybe someone else here remembers?

Sorry Kurt but I guess wasn't very clear in my reply. What I meant was that no 68's came from the factory with flocking. The subject line was about 1968 lids/doors and that's what I was referring to.

My next question would be was there a possible transition period or over lap of the lids.?

That I don't know. We would need to have folks with very late 68's and/or very early 69's (and original console doors) to chime in. My current 68 is a 05D and it has no flocking. I also used to own a late June 68 (I believe it was either 06C or 06D) and it didn't have flocking either, but I can't say for sure about July, 68 cars.
