License Plate Mounting Hardware
« on: May 30, 2021, 06:51:46 PM »
Hi First-Gen Camaro enthusiasts:

I have a 1968 standard base model Camaro 327/210 hp manual trans LF7 and would like to hear if any of the experts on the site can provide some good information on factory correct license plate hardware for the front and rear plates.  I've researched it a little and surfaced the photo in the first attachment.  I think that kit is correct.  The screws are p/n 3875313, but I'm not sure of the retainer.  However, I've only been able to find the retainers contained in the second photo.  Did anyone have any luck finding the correct retainers, which are shown in the first photo?  Assuming they're correct.
Many thanks.  gwp4

3875313 is the part number for the license plate attaching "unit", not just the screws. These parts were only supplied in the glove box from the factory and were never available as a service part. No one that I know of sells the "correct" off white "two leg" retainers. Most sell the white "4 leg" retainers.

Note that these parts changed several times over the years but you need to find the off white "2 leg" retainers as shown in your top picture. Good luck!

LAst time I bought them from the local fastener company
They are distributed by AU VE CO products-
Catalog lists 3 different part numbers for use with a 1/4" / #14 screw - (2 with 2 legs and 1 with 4 legs)

PN 3682 -50pcs/bx  - 2 leg  measures .625 square and the protruding pegs are .390 across at the widest -

PN 8435  -50pcs/bx - 2 leg measures .625 square on the face - the protruding pegs are .395 across at the widest -

PN 11719 -50pcs/bx - 4 legs  .600 square on the face - protruding pegs are  .415 across at the widest
