Heads in 67 started with a 3, so I'm doubting the 4 is correct (though it may be factory). Got a pic of the #?

Could it have been a real early casting? Date on the head is 5.21.67

Ok, they're dated May 21st, 1967, very early,  so I'm guessing a factory mistake.

I'll pass this along to Alan Colvin and see if he can make any sense of this.

In the last pic, the most forward head in the picture is the 3919842 head, the 4919842 is the one in the rear

Is the temp sender boss drilled on the 4919842, and what's the build date on your L71?

Well, considering they only made 16 L71's with the L89 aluminum heads, I'd say it's going to be difficult at best to verify, but have you checked with the NCRS folks? Again, I believe it's just a mistake made at Winters, but we may never know.

I got the tank sticker for it and it’s a L71 nothing more... i put back the original heads but these were on it when i got it so i know it’s not original to the car at least... thanks for all your help... I’m just stumped on the “4”

It's just a casting error when someone made up the number.
