A unique looking white 1969 Camaro RS/SS 396 convertible was used as the pace car for the 13th annual Rebel 400 NASCAR Grand National event held at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina on Saturday, May 10, 1969.  LeeRoy Yarbrough won the race in his 1969 Mercury.

This photo shows the Camaro parked with two other cars on the banking of turn 4 after the old surface had been removed.  The caption states, "DARLINGTON, SC - 1969: Paving of the turns at Darlington Raceway."  It came from here: https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/paving-of-the-turns-at-darlington-raceway-news-photo/91792309

These color photos demonstrate that the car had a long red & blue stripe with white stars running down both sides of the car.  While I normally reserve the image of the cover for the souvenir program for the last post in a thread, the program for this event features a color picture of the Camaro pace car right on the front.  I believe those are the Union 76 Race Stopper Girls on the car.  Notice that by the time the photo was taken for the program a PURE sticker had been affixed to the front fender under the amber side marker light.
