The same white 1969 Camaro RS/SS 396 convertible that was used to pace several earlier races was also used as the pace car for the Continental Grand Prix for SCCA Continental Championship Formula A/Formula 5000 cars.  It was held at Riverside International Raceway in Riverside, California on Sunday, April 20, 1969.  It must have been a cold day because the convertible top is still in the up position.  This was the first of thirteen Continental Championship events.  John Cannon won the 45 lap race in his Chevy V8 powered Eagle Mk 5.

Notice the Camaro has its RS headlight doors open and there are no event decals on the doors.

The first photo shows the Camaro on the pace lap.  It came from The Dave Friedman Collection at a web site that no longer exists.

The second photo shows the cover of the souvenir event program.  It came from worthpoint.com
