A/C system installation

Hi,
I started checking the parts I will need to buy to restore my 1967 camaro SS/RS.
Something I have been wondering and still haven’t decided is what to do with the a/c or better said with the “no a/c”.
Basically I am happy with the camaro as it came from factory and want to restore it as close as possible to its original set up.
But the almost only thing I would consider is to install a a/c system as otherwise I will tend to use less the car, specially in warm summer days.
Would it be too complicated to find a camaro a/c system to install it in my car without major complications and easy to take it back to its original set up if I (or my son...) change my mind later on?
Guess most complicated thing to reverse would be the lateral holes to make in the dashboard?
All your ideas, tips and critics will be welcome

I'd suggest a kit similar to the Vintage Air pictured here - minimal alterations to the car as it is configured for (specifically) 67-68 Camaros without original or factory A/C systems - "fly by wire" controls, too. You'll need additional pulleys and/or belts, but those are easily reversed, too, should you desire removal in the future. Attempting to install an original system is going to be costly and force mods to the firewall and other areas that would be difficult to reverse. The only other concern is locating a company that ships globally, but there are more options this way, to be sure.

One kit is the evap kit, the other is complete w/compressor and bracketry:

My worthless two cents…
Its your car, do as you wish. The suggestion to install Vintage Air makes good sense, pretty much a 'bolt in and go' deal. No searching for old used parts (who knows what condition it will be in), and spending more money restoring it. That said, IF we were talking about an original DZ 302 Z/28, I would NOT do it. Its funny, the guys over at the Boss 302 site are discussing this topic "Should I install A/C on my Boss?" Again, I would say: NO!

I believe you indicated earlier that you are in Peru.  I would recommend a more modern system such as Vintage Air, over the original system.  Parts and repair will be easier to obtain, and there might also be regulatory considerations for your country.  The original system can be converted to run on R134a, but any needed original component rebuild and shipping are costly, even when using the original R12 refrigerant.

It looks like vintage air is a good option then, if I decide to go ahead with the installation. Believe me it is hard for me to change the originality of a car, but at same time this one needs several repairs that it will never be 100% original and on the other hand, i want a car I can drive whenever I want and high humidity in Lima makes very uncomfortable to drive cars w/o a/c  in summer besides the fact that it’s not advisable to drive with windows open through a 10 million people polluted city also having security as a big concern.... so at the end i have to choose between having parked all the time an original camaro or having one with a small reversible modification which i can drive whenever I wish...

It’s a nice 1967 SS/RS but certainly not a DZ 302 Z/28.... which would be another history indeed
