It's hard to be sure, but I agree with group/7, it looks to like the header emblem cutout is smaller than on production Z's.

I can't count how many times I have looked at pictures of the prototype Z, but I never noticed that it had a bow tie outside mirror. I always thought they were service parts only. Maybe that's because it was a pre production car?

Its not uncommon the press/media will test drive pre-production cars. Some prototypes are in house test mules, and differ from what the public will eventually receive. When I filmed for many automotive TV shows we would actually use factory prototypes. Many times they were 'ringers', but that topic is for another thread...
