Sorry can you specify what model/year this sleeve is for and where it is located? posting a pic of the AIM may help us help you as well.

GM parts book lists that number for 67-68.  But I suppose could also be 69.

It's on ALL cars.

For 1967 it's shown on UPC 8, Sheet B2, Item 6, for 1968 it's on UPC 8, Sheet B4, Item 6 and for 1969 it's shown on UPC 8, Sheet B5, Item 6. It keeps the fuel line from rubbing against the gas tank strap and basically looks like a 3 or 4 inch piece of foam rubber hose. It was also used on other models and other years as well.

Note that it was also used on the 67-69 convertible parking brake cable to keep it from rubbing against the X brace. (for 1967 and 1968, UPC 5, Sheet C1, item 3 and for 1969, UPC 5, Sheet C1, Item 8.)

There was one on my 69's original tank. 08D 69.

Hmm, when I did my gas tank replace, there were two anti rub "things" I could not find. The thick isolators on the mounting points and the center one. For the center one I used sheet neoprene foam (from McMaster-Carr) and cut it like original and contact cemented it to center of tank (to keep it from rubbing trunk floor).

For the mounting points, I took roofing felt and contact cemented 4 layers together to get the correct thickness.

My point is you have to get a little creative on some of these small parts if they are not reproduced :)

I would just take some 3/8" rubber fuel line, cut to length.  Then throw it in some boiling water to really loosen it up, then slide on sending unit tube to proper place, and wha-lla!

Planning on doing that. Was just looking to find out what material the sleeve was made out of.
Thanks Kevin!

It's 2-1/4" long, 3/4" diameter black foam rubber medium density with 3 external ribs. It's not split. Does that help?....Joe
