Believe Mr. Drissi is the proud, new owner of the ex-Chapparal '70 Camaro...

Congrats to Tomy on his new acquisition. It will take some time getting used to seeing him in something other than the Dick Guldstrand Dana Camaro.

I see it still has an aluminum bell housing. Was that required instead of a blow proof?? It would make a good stablemate for yours, Jon.

Doug, many of the guys racing today run triple disc 7" diameter clutches mounted on a flex plate rather than a traditional heavy flywheel. These things don't come apart and destroy everything in their way like the old stuff potentially could. In that scenario, the blow proof bell housing is seen as unnecessary weight.

Could you give a bit more detail on this setup? I've never heard of such a thing. Is it race-only, or could it be setup for streetable driving? Sounds safer, I like it.

They are really more racing oriented and not meant for the street. The low mass is great for quick acceleration and deceleration but low-end torque off the line suffers. Generally, all the major clutch manufacturers have a tech line that you can call and they can explain the pros and cons of the various setups better than I can.

Thanks a lot Jon, I kinda figured it was a low mass setup with bad street manners. Funny that I've never heard about it though.

Nick, I am glad you asked the question. I'm not around this stuff enough and had never heard of it too. Thought I was the only dum one.
