Camaro build date
« on: April 13, 2017, 11:25:01 AM »
My 69 Camaro has an 08E (69) on the Fisher body plate & the finish date according to NCRS is August 28th 1969. The 5th week of August started Sunday the 24th. Could a Camaro be built in this short of time or am I missing something here? Thank you, Joe

My X66 is 08D and has a build date of Aug 22. I'd say you're good to go.

From this site, under "Assembly Process" : "The assembly process naturally breaks down into several major departments on both the Fisher and Chevrolet sides of the operation; a brief sequential description follows, then we'll examine each one in detail. It took about two days (four shifts) for a body to go through the Fisher Body system, and another day and a half (three shifts) to go through the Chevrolet system." - J. Hinkley

Not sure what you are asking, but I don't see anything abnormal. Your car was started on the 5th week of August and finished on the 5th week of August. What does not jive??

I guess I just didn't know that it was that short of a time from start to finish. My 68 Z/28 was an 02E car but wasn't completed till March 13th. If it was a short build, what would've held up that car?. Thanks again, Joe

There's another L.A. built Z/28 that is 15 numbers earlier on the VIN than mine. 02E car, left assm line same day of March 13th. His car has 4.88. When I get home I'll look at the date of the diff. It seems it was late in February like the 22nd or the 26th. Were those rear ends built as required? It wouldn't be something "just there" during assm."?
Thank you, Joe

or am I missing something here? Thank you, Joe
Missing something. Fisher body weeks are a suggestion, not a concrete date.

btw, axle doesn't figure into this at all. That may change when it is scheduled, but it's already locked in when it gets a build date.

So you're saying that just because the trim tag say it was 02E, it may've not been started till a week or so later? Thank you, Joe
