67 radius rod on 6 cyl
« on: September 30, 2016, 09:17:52 PM »
I have seen a original 67 6 cyl car with a factory radius rod sheet metal support under rear passenger seat. Is this a factory mistake?

No the body would have the support regardless of the final build not requiring the radius rod.

would anybody know what month that went into effect, because I have seen many 67's that did not have that extra metal support under the seat and also had original floors.

Just when I think I know something I am wrong I thought only 4P, 4N, 4K, and 4L had that extra support.

Something is definitely odd with a 6 cylinder body having the bracket (provisions for the rod) in the floor for the radius rod attachment. What is the build date on the car? All 67 Camaro bodies did not have the support under the seat for the rod. I have a late production 327 4 speed car that does not have the plate welded to the floor under the rear seat. It is not an L30/M20.

I looked at a late NOR May '67 6 cylinder and it doesn't have the plate in the floor.

Interesting find......but I can't see the corporate bean counters allowing parts plus labor to be installed on a car that doesn't require it. I thought that traction plate item was dictated in part by the group '4' codes on the trim tag (and broadcast sheet).

Can you post a picture of the cowl tag? Does the car have a 12 bolt? I had a Firebird Sprint that had the plate and the radius rod installed but that was the overhead cam 6 cylinder.
