350 engine, 5K redline, 396-325hp engine, 5500K, 396-375hp, 6K redline.

There were tach shortages are the LA plant and many cars did not get the correct tach there.

When you say stamped on the back, exactly where (what plate)?  Is it the head assembly?

FYI, according to the P&A the 67 Camaro Tach Assembly w/console guages (350, 396) was stamped 6468910 (or 6468696 -first design).  It literally says that "(stamped 6468910)".  Ed or someone with more P&A understanding could help.  (And yes, not all p/n from the P&A were the same as what was on the actual part.)

Group 9.750 Tachometer Assy

67 Camaro w/console gauges (327), (1st design) - 6468244 (stamped 6468244)

15-41 ring and pinion is a 2.73 ratio and the PW verifies this as being a 2.73 10 bolt open rear end, assembled on October 6th, 1966. This is further verified by the casting number (3894859). The date on the Ring and Pinion of 9-66 (September, 1966) matches the stamped date (1006), so it's probably original to that housing. However, your 09D assembly and the October 6th axle dates don't really line up very well. However, if your car was started late in the week, it's possible you could have gotten an October 6th rear end. Here's the 1967 Calendar and you can see that the last day of 09D was either the 29th or 30th (depending on if they worked a Saturday that week), and October 6th is the next Friday, so it's possible, but it would still be hot as they were installing it!!!

Your car isn't an SS, so it's either a 327/210 (base engine) or a 327/275 (L30). The 68 Muncie or course isn't original to the car, but what's the numbers on it? (I'm missing mine!!)

Check your Trim Tag and post the numbers. We should be able to narrow it down for you.

bertfam thank you very much,# on tran's is p8s06 18n344620. Other clue is there is no emblems below camaro emblem on front fenders[no hole's look to be factory fenders] tag # are 09d 67-12637 nor 10181 d body 742-z r-2 2lg 3sl 5y. I think a good ideal would be to have crg listed with anybody try to sell a camaro on ebay. thanks agian 77-chev

77-chev,
Hang in there!  There are a lot of us un-doing other folks car butchering out here.  In the long run, it's a noble deed... and fun!

Steve,
Thanks! By Oct. of 67 it reads like Ed posted above.  I'm still trying to fathom all the ins and outs of GM P&As.

I thought he had an early production car and I was trying to get back to as close to "original" as possible on the part numbers as I could for him.........if that's not the case then my bad.  My October 67 has 5 different listings for console gauges but only 2 are for the 327 (Not a SS - see ED's note above).  They are: 1st design 6468244 and 2nd design 6468909 (stamped same #).  The Tach & Lamp Assy's along with the Bracket numbers are the same as I listed above.  I believe Ed's P&A is a Sept 68.
