Traction compound dispenser on 1967 Camaro RS
« on: March 14, 2016, 04:30:52 AM »
I can't find any reference to a Traction Compound Dispenser being available in 1967. I have an unrestored 1967 Camaro RS convertible with this option apparently factory installed as the splatter paint is applied evenly on all parts of the trunk. I would appreciate any information about this option (V75 in 1969), such as is it common? I tried to attach a photo but the file size was too large.

Unlikely. Possibly dealer installed it on you car in 69. Only 188 cars received it originally from the factory in 69.

Here is a link to the options sheet.

Post some pics when you have time.

If it was an OTC part, it wouldn't have *factory* trunk splatter on it...  Of course if it was removed from another car it would have the factory trunk splatter from the original car, which might or might not match the car it was installed into...  and of course, nowadays we're seeing 30-35 yr old 'restorations' which might look as if they are 'aged originals' rather than 'aged restorations' to the less than expert assessor...

Just to clarify, I've owned the car since 1975. I am going to take some lower resolution photos to post. The ones I have are too large to attach. Thanks for contacting me.

A lot could have happened before 1975.

I'm not completely sure the parts in my car's trunk are even the Traction compound dispenser. Someone identified it as such by an oral description. Does anyone have a picture of what it looks like or can tell me where to find one?

If you post a pic or send to me and I can post it. That would help.

He, or the person who told him it was a 'traction dispensing device', mistook the convertible 'harmonic stabilizer' parts in the trunk... (or whatever name Chevy gave them?).. :)

Convertible "Cocktail Shakers" are not traction control.  Ebay has a real Traction Control Setup setup for sale.

search Ebay for "201537792431"  as I am not sure how to post a link.
