Last 69 Z?

 I have a 69 Z that I chased for years I purchased last year and I'm about to begin restoration on. Very late car 710474 vin 11A build. I'm curious are there any known Zs built later? Also Nov 1st was a Saturday in 1969 so with 3990 cars built in November were 11A cars the cars built that week up to Saturday November 1st or are they November 1st cars and the second of of November as well? Lastly, any guesstimates on how many code 10 black Zs built in 69? Not including the paint delete cars that can't be confirmed as true black cars.  Thanks

There are 4 Z/28s in the db built after yours.

Black is estimated at 2% of production. No way to know how many were Z/28s.

I tried to post of pic of the TT but pic file too large. It's in JMs database as well. 10 10 711 11A x77 D80  with cowl hood and 6500 tach. Needs restored. So the guess would be appropriately 400 black Zs. If that includes the paint delete and early cars then I suppose even fewer code 10 TT cars. Anyone know when in the model year black became a standard color? Thanks for the info.

Would the last 3 of the body # be 457?
I hate combining percentages. I know that # is off. Black % would not be uniform - how many black L6 cars do you see?

11A is not that late for Van Nuys.  My 05A VN SS was assembled in June of 69! :) NOT black of course :D

Black was discontinued during the 1968 model year. However the initial release of the 1969 Camaro Showroom Album lists 18 colors with black at the top of the list. Several colors are flagged "check availability before ordering": 10, 40, 51, 61, 63 and 67. The first rev of the 1969 Camaro Dealer Order Form is dated 6-68. Colors are not listed but there was a place to specify color. Dealers could start placing orders July 1, 1968; at that time black appeared to be an RPO color. In checking the CRG db, from the start of production through the end of 1968 at both plants there are a very few of those colors. They are not designated as special paint. After January 1969 they become far more common. Black, Champagne and Butternut Yellow were extra-cost: $12.65.

At some point late in 1968 Chevy must have notified dealers that 10, 40, 63 would be available at extra cost. It is not known how earlier orders were handled.

Yes it is 457. Very true about the L6 cars, I've never seen one in black. Black convts seem to be far less common as well.

This car is apparently 11A of 1969, so a late production NOR car... :)

hmm, I guess I had heard black was discontinued mid year. So really what your saying is it just had to be specified and wasn't included with dealer stock?

So in a sense it had some of the same stipulations as a special paint car, along with Champagne and Butter nut yellow.

No, black was just a normal color that anyone could order, especially after Jan 69. It just cost a couple of bucks. Dealers could and did order *any* color or model for dealer stock, just like a customer.

That car took a while to show up again. I first heard about the car 18 years ago via Brad in Indiana.
Does it have the original engine?
