wheel cylinder finish? painted or natural metal?

just working on the rear, and wondered what the wheel cylinders were bare metal or painted ? Thanks Guys

bare metal... possibly coated with an anti-corrosive oily substance originally

Natural although the round part which protruded and was visible through the backing plate was painted black with the rear end.
