Lower windshield clip bolt
« on: September 12, 2015, 05:34:21 PM »
I am not having any luck so thought I would ask. The clip that holds the lower windshield molding on, appears to be held on by a hex head bolt or screw.  Mine seem to be missing. Anyone have any idea on are they in the body manual or a place to get them? I have not seen any glass info in the aim and not sure where my fisher body book is.
Thanks!

Is that the best you can do on your B-day is ask for a screw?! I bet back in the day you got another kind of 'screw' on your B-Day! Have a Happy Day Bill!!  ;)

Ha ha. Not much happening in the shop today. Getting some electric moved and no juice in the shop! Just about need to turn the heat on.
Nothing eventful tonight. Went out to eat with friends.  Copo, thanks for the info, I will look into that. I think I found a vendor advertising them but they called them 7/16 and that did seem right

Couldn't find the B-2046 in the catalog.....looks like that you probably meant B-12046, the specs on this one seem to match what you stated.

52 at 9 am today. Yesterday said 60 but wind was 15 mph straight out of the north. Had 5.5 inches rain in last 10 days. Been a weird summer.

and we have only 8 more days of 'summer', then we'll get to experience (hopefully) a very long pleasant autumn....  :)

I think it was in the 40s this morning. I even turned the furnace on a bit last night!

Thanks Lloyd. The painter has to have mine but who knows what he did with them. Does the stops that go against the glass have a screw in them instead of a bolt head? Is there a rubber block between it and the glass or should the stop touch the glass?

As close a shot as I could get of my untouched original (from my 01C X77). Note the rubber coating on the clip, the excess sealant around the clip and bolt, and the original winshield seal under the glass. Never molested -

All the glass is original and date matched, unfortunately it's clear rather than tinted (for such a low cost option, I wish the original owner had ordered it). Quandary - the glass is delaminating in spots, should I replace it or drive it ? Some wiper haze on the windshield, too - minor scratches elsewhere. I never paid too much attention to it before now, when original means more than modified in a lot of eyes -

The '68 was ordered with tint, thank goodness. Pace Car is tinted (A/C), but the L78 is clear also. I guess I should be thankful for what I have - and not complain.

Regards,
Steve

I hear you with the clear. I have actually run across a few clear original windshields, I just can't seem to locate an original tinted.

I would keep all your original glass in the car, it speaks to the originality of the car.
