I was going through some old paperwork today and came across a bank document that listed the VIN number (124378L335653)  of my old 68 Z28 I used to own.  I decided to google the VIN on this site and discovered an old post where some of the members were discussing a Z28 motor that was for sale in the pacific northwest.  This motor came from my old car  which was stolen back in 1968.  I traded a brand new Muncie M20 for this 1250 mile theft recovery car that was missing the engine and trans along with the front end and doors.  The rest of the car was pristine as I traded for the remainder of this car in 1970.  I rebuilt the car with a donor camaro which was very low mileage.  I bought a 1970 LTI motor and trans and got the car running in about a year.  It was originally a blue car with white stripes but I had the car painted in black lacquer and hand rubbed.  Yes, I would never do such a thing now but it was beautiful.  I also installed a Dana 60 rear end from a 68 Hemi Charger.  It worked great and nobody could tell it didn't come in the car originally.  This car was put back together using only the correct GM parts and was fast.  Imagine restoring a Z when you could still go to Chevy and buy the original parts?
In any event, someone may have this car still.  I had to sell it when I lost my job.  Hated that and never forgot the car.  The motor that I mentioned previously was the original stolen motor that somehow found its way from LA to Washington.  The car was stolen right off the car lot in Los Angeles I believe.  Whoever has this motor has a stolen motor.  Hopefully, the car still exists. I just wanted to document this on this site in case someone runs across the car or the motor.  A little history never hurt anybody.

Here's the CRG thread...  http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=1654.0

I remember the listing, the engine was in Berkeley, CA at the time.
