Look what my wife brought home for me just now.
« on: May 12, 2014, 08:54:07 PM »
I know this isn't Camaro related, but I do own one. My wife and granddaughter went to Lowes in Dover for flowers and this is what they found when they came back out. Diane, my wife, said there was nothing near when she parked and nothing around when they came out. What could have made this damage that high up? Man I hate people. Sorry guys, I don't hate everyone, just the ones that do things like this.

Some lumber tipping over or someone turning around with a 4 by 4 on their shoulder while someone was loading it into there car or truck.  Is that a horizontal scuff mark running from the dent across the tail light where wharever it was continued on its way to the ground.

Gary, check with Lowes to see if the parking lot is under video surveillance.

A long shot, but maybe call and see if they have cameras covering the parking lot?

There is a mark on the lens. No paint rub off, but more of a rubber or black like film that starts at the leading edge of the well and goes back to the tail light lens. I can't get much info out of my wife except for I don't know, we were only there for 15 minutes and there wasn't anything around the truck when we parked and nothing close when we came out. Weird, what ever it was that hit the panel was about 4 feet off ground level. Maybe something sticking out the back of another pick up. No other damage down lower or on the tire or the rim.

X3   I cannot believe they drove away without a word!
Do check with Lowes.  Even if there is no security video, someone may have seen it and told Lowes....
Not much consolation, but at least it wasn't your Camaro....

Probably a Mustang tipping over while trying to park in a parking space - while idling. Scrape was the antenna.

Seriously, hope you catch the perp. "Accident" has no meaning here when you hit something and run, the cowards -

Just got back from Lowes. The manager said call Dover police and have them come to the store. The officer came and took my statement which I told him was after the fact. He read me the riot act saying my wife and grand daughter should have never left the scene of a hit and run, he sited that the accident could have happened during the time they were on the way home and not at Lowes. Makes sense. They get that kind of stuff all the time the officer said. He wrote a report for insurance purposes anyway. The hit and run was between 3 and 3:30 from what little info I could get from the wife and it was after 6:30 when I got the truck back to Lowes to ask about the cameras. When the officer was done with the report he said he was going to look at any footage that may have been caught. One thing he told me was that this Lowes has one camera and will most like not show any thing past the closest parking spaces which he was aware of from a similar incident that happen sometime before. Something the officer said was the damage was very high up on the panel and that Lowes has delivery trucks, he found no paint rub off anywhere, just what is in the pics I posted. There was a white box truck in the parking lot when I got there, I should have measured how high the bottom of the box was from the ground, the lowest damage is approximately 4 feet off the ground. I didn't bring my tape with me so I couldn't compare.

I don't drive my Camaro during the day...ever. Night time can be iffy with Deer and small animals but I don't find that a problem if my eyes are open. I'm a a night owl so I get my Camaro kick after mid night when the roads are empty. I've seen too many rear ends get slammed sitting at street lights in town during the day. Even the country crossroad up from me gets plenty of activity, had a t-bone just last week. Too many arrogant drivers and crappy attitudes to suit me.

I'll ad, my dailys are not newer or that pristine, but it still burns me when someone is so inconsiderate as this and, yes, I get mad when a ding shows up on anything I own, no matter how ratty. Just the idea that no one seems to care. My newest car is a 97, with 40k on it I will ad. Yea, I'm cheap, but it just doesn't seem to pay to have anything nice in today's world. When the kids were in car seats, I bought my wife the only new car we ever had and someone prompty "keyed it" down both sides and that was 20 years ago...still frosts me.
